The overall jobs outlook for both Vermilion County and Danville dropped significantly from June to July, and also shows a sharp drop from July of last year.
Vermilion County’s unemployment rate increased from 5.9% in June to 6.6% in July. Vermilion County’s rate stood back at 4.9% in July of 2022.
The City of Danville’s July unemployment rate came in at eight percent flat, after being at 6.8% in June. Danville’s rate was 5.8% in July of last year.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed an increase 700 jobs overall, when comparing July of 2023 with July of 2022. Looking at more specific categories; Leisure and Hospitality jobs were up by 600, and Government jobs were up by 200. Professional and Business Services jobs had dropped by 100, from July of 2022 to July of 2023.
