ABOVE: Danville resident Dee Ann Ryan recently spoke to the Danville City Council about assistance the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) could offer for residents in Danville and Vermilion County looking to become homeowners.
NOTE: There is one change to this story. The workshop will now be held at the DACC Bremer Center only.
Anyone interested in learning more about how to become a homeowner can attend one of two workshops being hosted Saturday, August 26th by the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA). Earlier this month, Danville resident Dee Ann Ryan addressed the Danville City Council about possibly bringing the non-profit to the Vermilion County area; setting up possible working agreements with the City of Danville and/or the Vermilion Housing Authority to provide vouchers for home ownership.
As Ryan stated at the time, NACA’s goal is to remove barriers for potential homeowners. And they look very closely at the potential homeowner’s attitude.
AUDIO: Like if they don’t have a perfect credit score, they look more at how hard the person works to be trained and get the education than at the credit score.
Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr said after Ryan’s presentation that anything the city can do to help people become responsible homeowners is certainly a good thing.
Vermilion Housing Authority Executive Director Jackie Vinson agrees.
AUDIO: We are highly supportive of any opportunity to promote home ownership, in Danville and throughout Vermilion County.
Saturday’s (Aug 26th) workshops are both scheduled for 9 AM to 1 PM, via Zoom, at the Danville Public Library and the Danville Area Community College Bremer Center.
