Vermilion County Board members will consider next week whether to authorize funds for a fly-over to prepare new tax assessment maps. Board member Bruce Stark said the fly-over would benefit the county because the photographs would spot anything that has been built since the last one in 2020. And those improvements would be added to the tax rolls.
Supervisor of Assessments Matt Long is requesting over $370-thousand dollars from county ARPA funds. The committee is recommending the full board approve the request provided the City of Danville is willing to pay $20-thousand dollars towards the aerial mapping.
Committee members learned Monday evening that the county still has around $8.5 million dollars left from its original allocation of $14-million dollars of ARPA money. ARPA stands for American Recovery Plan Act and is funds designed to help in the recovery from the COVID pandemic.
