News story here.
A chance to learn about addiction issues, especially when it comes to mental health, is there for everyone this Saturday (Sept 16th) at the STEP Recovery Center, 2500 Georgetown Road in Danville. Founder and CEO Wendy Lambert says some special guests will be there to share very important information at this “End the Stigma” fundraiser.
AUDIO: Fifth Street Renaissance is a non-profit organization that’s going to be there. And they’ll be doing AIDS, STD, and other testing. They will also be passing out Narcan. They’ll be doing health screenings. And then we will have 50-50; we’ll have a silent auction; just a bunch of stuff going on. We’ll have music, and a bunch of food plates available to be purchased.
Lambert says there will also be guest appearances from the Danville Fire Department and Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden. She says the number one goal of the day is information.
AUDIO: They’ll be informational tables from a lot of non-profits and organizations in our community, that are there to make a difference. Because I think a lot of people in Vermilion County; they don’t know where to go to. They have no idea that these resources are available. And so, this is what we’re trying to do; end the stigma and raise awareness.
This will be 9 AM to 2 PM Saturday, at the STEP Recovery Center on Georgetown Road. The public is invited.
