Once again, Neuhoff Media will be holding their annual radiothon for the kickoff of the new campaign for United Way of Danville Area. And that day is Friday; September 15th. You’ll be hearing about it on 1490 WDAN, D102, and 94.9 K-Rock as early at 6 AM; and then throughout the day.
New United Way of Danville Area CEO Angie Lazzell recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program. One point Lazzell made is that a donation to United Way of Danville Area helps support 24 different programs at 20 different local United Way agencies. And simply put, when an agency’s own funding or grants cannot provide needed support to complete a mission, the United Way can step in.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: I would say we are the ones that a lot of those agencies rely on; because, again, we’ve been here. We’re the backbone, or the one that everybody looks to when the emergencies happen, when they need someone. We go out and help try to change the polices, and we rally the organizations and the community to come together.

Lazzell says there will be many ways to donate on Friday the 15th, including stopping by the main radiothon headquarters in Downtown Danville.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We’re going to be downtown at Temple Plaza from 7 AM until 7 PM. We’re going to have our agencies out. We’ll be collecting in the street. You can donate online; you can text donations in.
And the way to text donations in, by the way, is to text “GiveUnited” to 26989.
