This coming Saturday, September 23rd, will be the Barbie in the Barn show benefitting Roxy’s House, and their Autism Communication and Animal Care programs. Speech Pathologist Roxy Reed recently joined Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show, explaining the importance of autism communication programs; and what they do at Roxy’s House.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We have a therapy barn; and we have swings. It’s a sensory experience for children. We have hay bales and animal assisted therapy. This event is specifically for our autism communication program. You know one in 36 children, babies, are diagnosed with autism.
The program this Saturday starts at 11 AM, and it’s for ages two and up. You’ll see live Barbies dancing, and you might even learn how to do the Barbie Line Dance while you’re there. You can add to it all by bringing a Barbie of your own; or, of course, dressing like her. The actual fundraiser event goes from 11 AM to 1:30, with a special opening show, and it’s all made to cater to the little ones.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: And bring your Barbie if you want! So we’re going to open with a little show. Everything’s age appropriate. We know that kids can’t sit through a two hour musical or play really very well, so we’re keeping that to 20 or 30 minutes. It’s going to be fabulous.
The location for the Roxy’s House barn is actually east of Homer, between Homer and Fithian, just off of Catlin-Homer Road. It has a Homer address of 13801 North 130 East Road.
Tickets to this special fundraiser are 25 dollars, and you can find them by going to Barbie in the Barn on Facebook, or to BlueHeronRanchandRetreat.com.
