If you’d like to see some live history and have some family fun this weekend, stop by the Revolutionary War Re-enactment and Pioneer Craft Day at Forest Glen. Retired Forest Glen park superintendent Charles Rhoden says he and his Georgetown area family have been involved in re-enactments since 1988. And it’s a great way to learn about history, and be entertained, right before your eyes.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We try to educate the public on; really on what camp life and everything was during the American Revolution. We do do a battle. It’s not any particular battle; it just shows the tactics that were used at the time. And we have a quite a few different units. They dress differently, and they will explain all that to you. Ask questions!
Revolutionary War Re-enactment activities begin at 10 AM both Saturday and Sunday mornings (Sept 23-24). On Sunday only, there will also be Pioneer Craft Day activities; which will include candle dipping, apple cider pressing, fry bread making, and children’s old fashion games.
