Once again, Survivor Resource Center is hosting their Dancing for the Stars fundraiser this Saturday evening (Sept 30th) at the Fischer Theater. Survivor Resource Center Executive Director Marcie Sheridan and Director of Violence Prevention Education and Marketing Kris Bell recently joined Laura Williams, on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program.
Sheridan reminded everyone about their work with survivors of sexual assault, as well as the significant others and families of the victims. Sheridan says it’s a survivor centered operation, focusing on individual needs. But she also pointed out, they have certain laws to follow as well.
AUDIO: Of course, with children, we’re mandated reporters. And we know that in society we have to help protect children. We also try to help them regain control of their lives as well, throughout that process.

Memories of the Survivor Resource Center’s 2022 Dancing For the Stars
Bell talked about this year’s Dancing for the Stars participants.
AUDIO: Amre Carey and Ashton Greer are on deck. Peter Blackman, he and Erica Troxel are teamed up. Andrea Troxel is teamed up with Lieutenant Tim McFadden. Then you have Tierra Brown and Mary Catherine Roberson. So, it’s going to be a fun event.
Hosts will once again be Christopher Hightower and Sharda Pascal. Judges this year will include dancers from last year Kris Bell and Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates; along with Tonya Hill and Jane McFadden.
And, of course, there are many special sponsors to thank for an event like this, as Sheridan reminded us.
AUDIO: Our Starbright sponsors are Hall of Fame Plaques & Signs, Heritage Development, Hussman Rogers Law; our Starlight sponsors are Bowers Tree Service, Marilyn Blanton, CASA of Vermilion County, Erin Ehmke, Edward Jones Investments, MI-BOX of Central Illinois, Austin Surprenant, REMAX Ultimate, and Towne Machine Tool Company.
Tickets are $30 for floor seating, $15 for balcony seating, and $60 for special princess seating. You can find tickets at either www.SurvivorResourceCenter.org or atthefischer.com. The event begins at 7 PM, with cocktails starting at 6 PM.
