NOTE: THE FOLLOWING EVENT HAS BEEN MOVED TO SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21st DUE TO THE HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED ON SAT OCT 14th.
It’s a special double header this Saturday morning for the Lincoln Park Historic District Neighborhood Association. At 9:30, a tree just south of the Lamon House will be dedicated in honor of the memory of Julius W. Hegeler II. The association’s Brenda Dwiggins says the tree was planted back in 2019; and then, of course, COVID hit soon afterwards. But now, a plaque has been placed by the tree; and under the city’s Leaf A Legacy program, it will all be made official; as a tribute to everything Mr. Hegeler did for the region.

AUDIO: Not just for our neighborhood association, but for businesses, organizations, individuals; and we just want to have a tree to show everyone how much we as a neighborhood appreciate everything that he did for Vermilion County.
As for the clean up effort, all volunteers are asked to meet at 1100 North Logan at 9 AM for coffee and pastries. The clean up will include two dumpsters on hand, and electronics will be collected to be taken over to Saturday’s Health Department and Keep Vermilion County Beautiful electronic recycling event over at DACC.
The Lincoln Park Historic District is bordered by Logan, Voorhees, Grant, and Fairchild Streets.
