Vermilion Advantage Chamber Director Nicole Van Hyfte says not only have local arts and hotels benefitted greatly from the final round of the Back to Business (B2B) Grants created by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) in response to the COVID pandemic, but the DCEO is about to start a new part of the B2B program designed for start up businesses.
Van Hyfte says earlier this month some area hotels were awarded part of the funding from the grants, and then creative arts recipients were announced this week. Vermilion County entertainment entities benefitting included $35,000 to the Danville Symphony Orchestra, $245,000 to the Fischer Theatre, $5,000 for DLO Musical Theatre, and $20,000 for the Vermilion County Museum Society.
AUDIO: (I’m) specifically happy about the Fischer Theatre. I think that’s just a wonderful thing for them. As well as many other organizations; DLO, the symphony(DSO), the Festival Chorus, the County Museum, Joyful Bubbles, Exit 210; I mean just some great organizations.
Vermilion Festival Chorus received $5,000; Joyful Bubbles $5,000; and Exit 210 Saloon received $35,000.
Details about the new DCEO start-up businesses grants will be announced at a later date.
