Danville Police have announced the results of a compliance check on local businesses that sell tobacco or vape products. Police say 37 businesses were checked on October 12th and 13th, and officers found that 26 of those locations complied with the law and did not sell tobacco or vape products to minors.
The investigation resulted in the citation of eleven individuals on the charge of sale of tobacco or vape products to a minor. In addition to the citations, retail locations may be cited for the sale of tobacco or vape products to minors. They face possible fines and/or suspension of their tobacco licenses if violations continue.
Sergeant Comrie of the Danville Police Department notes the establishments, and their employees are the first line of defense in the battle against underage tobacco/vape use. Sergeant Comrie praised the businesses that were following the law. He said their continued efforts are making Danville a safer and healthier environment for our youth.
