THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 1208 Harmon Street early Tuesday, October 24th. Firefighters were dispatched at 9:47 AM to a report of smoke coming from a residence in that block. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke throughout the home and a push of heavy smoke coming from a northside window of the 1 1/2 story home.
Firefighters entered the home upon arrival and began extinguishing the fire while simultaneously performing a search of the residence for occupants. No one was found to be in the home at the time of the fire.
It took firefighters approximately 15 minutes to extinguish the fire and stop its spread throughout the home.
Ameren arrived on the scene and assisted firefighters by securing the electrical and gas connections to the home.
No injuries have been reported, and no damage estimate is yet available on the home and contents.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:21 AM, extinguishing any remaining fires; while the fire investigator cleared the scene at 2:24 PM.
The fire remains under investigation by the Danville Fire Department.
