THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1600 block of Oak Street early this morning. Upon arrival, firefighters were informed that an occupant remained inside the residence. Firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the home. Firefighters from Fire Station #2 entered the home and began attacking the fire. Additional arriving Firefighters then entered the home through a window at another location and began a rapid search.
A female occupant was removed from the home by firefighters searching the residence. They located the victim and removed her through a window under heavy fire and smoke conditions. Danville firefighters then assisted AMT paramedics with transport of the victim to OSF Medical Center.
The victim’s name or condition is not being released currently.
One firefighter suffered a minor hand injury while performing the removal of the victim. The firefighter did not seek medical treatment for the injury and resumed work.
Fire suppression units remained on scene until 3:34 AM.
Fire Cause: The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist the Danville Fire Department with its investigation of the fire. The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Investigators from the Danville Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s office remained on scene until 6:54 AM.
