Gregory’s Academy of the Arts is getting ready for their production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. And as Gregory Duckett told Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program, the “feeling” of the story of A Christmas Carol comes back stronger and stronger every year.
AUDIO: It’s a tradition. It is truly something that so many people talk about all the time. When the holidays get closer, everyone wants to talk about Ebenezer Scrooge and all of the Charles Dickens characters. It’s a lot of fun.
Duckett said that while Gregory’s Academy goes back several decades, his first experience with A Christmas Carol can be traced back to 1980, at Danville High School.
AUDIO: And my drama teacher at that time was Mr. Dale Farrell. And he cast me as Mr. Fezziwig; we did the musical Mr. Scrooge. And it was just so much fun. Back in those days there was a group called the Super 60s Group; through First National Bank, I believe, at that time. And they brought a big group out, and we just had a blast.
And you’ll see Duckett playing Mr. Fezziwig this year as well. Shows are scheduled at First Presbyterian Church at 100 N. Franklin in Danville; 7 PM Thursday November 9th, 7 PM Friday November 10th, and 2 PM Saturday November 11th. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show for festival seating, but you can call ahead to reserve tickets at 217-443-0235.
