The Danville Police Department and Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department have both confirmed that they received a courtesy call from the FBI Tuesday morning (Oct 31st) prior to a raid at a home on Lake Shore Drive. The FBI Springfield office has confirmed that activity took place, and residents in the neighborhood say the raid began at about 7 AM at 37 Lake Shore Drive.
Residents have told Neuhoff Media that several “booms” were initially heard, followed by an FBI agent on a loud speaker repeatedly saying “This is the FBI, come out with your hands up.” Residents also stated that guns and dogs were present, that two men were led away from the home; and that many of them positioned their kids away from windows or in their basements, as they were not aware of what was going on.
The Danville Police and Sheriff’s Department did not receive details on the reason for the action, but Danville Police have stated that there is no reason to believe that the community is in danger. The FBI office advised Neuhoff Media to check with the U.S. Attorney’s Office Central Illinois District for additional information, but they could not confirm nor deny that action had been taken.
