In a tradition that’s been running close to a decade, The Vermilion County Museum Society has a special Fall Sale every two years. And not only can you find some great items for your home or gift items there, but you will also be supporting the Vermilion County Museum’s school program. Museum Director Sue Richter says no school student group in Vermilion County has to pay to visit the museum, and the expenses needed to run that school program are covered by this sale.
As Richter recently explained to Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program, sometimes items donated to the museum don’t quite fit what they need, but are perfect for this sale. And we could be talking anything from books, collectibles, furniture, antiques, and more.
AUDIO: A lot of people, when they’re clearing out their houses to move, clearing out grandmothers’ artifacts and things; have a lot of items that they will donate to the museum, and they do not fit our collection. But they tell us, “Well, we will still donate them. You can use them for the sale that your have every year to garner funds for the school program.”
Richter says a very popular item this year is a wide variety of rocking chairs. The Vermilion County Museum Fall Sale will be this Friday, November 17th; and this Saturday, November 18th; 10 AM to 3 PM both days. The museum is located at 116 North Gilbert in Danville.
