“The Giving Fence” is once again back at the Education Personnel Federal Credit Union drive-up branch, at 101 West Main Street in Danville. Education Personnel picked up this idea from something they saw near their Bloomington branch a handful of years ago.
It is reopened during the month of November every year, and continues through the winter months, with the purpose of keeping everyone warm. Any winter clothing you no longer need can be hung on the west side fence along the Main Street drive-up branch, and those in need can stop by the fence and pick up items their family needs at any time.
As Education Personnel Federal Credit Union CEO Hope Garrett reminds us, the items go quickly; so if you find something you no longer need at any time this winter, please consider hanging it on the fence for a donation.
AUDIO: Well we’re looking for any cold weather gear. Largely coats; even some heavy jackets, scarves, gloves. As people are cleaning out their closets and getting new stuff; if they have gently used items that could keep someone else warm; that’s what we’re looking for to put out there. We have had a number of things donated, but man they go fast. And I know people are looking for it now that the temperatures have dropped.
Again, all donations are taken at the Main Street drive-up branch. Education Personnel Federal Credit Union’s main branch is located at 1102 N. Walnut St.
