At the start of winter, it is common to hear about LIHEAP and their offering of energy bill assistance to low income families. But what if you are a moderate income family that needs assistance? That’s where the Energy Assistance Foundation comes in.
The 501c3 non-profit was originally established in 1982, and is better known as “Warm Neighbors, Cool Friends.” Executive Director Susan Sams recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program. Sams explained that the foundation covers all 44,000 square miles of Ameren customers, and can assist with what you have paid over the last 45 days up to $500. Sams says individuals and families who are suddenly in need of help are thrilled to find out that this assistance is out there.

And most of the people we help have never needed help before, have never asked for help before, didn’t know our program was available.
