THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
The Danville Police Department assisted the Rossville Police Department involving a vehicle pursuit on Thursday evening 12/8/23 at around 7:30 p.m. Rossville Police Officers pursued a vehicle southbound on IL Route 1 into the north edge of the Danville City Limits due to having felony charges on the driver. The vehicle continued into the city limits through Danville avoiding attempts made by Danville officers to utilize tire deflation devices.
The pursuit ended on the west side of Danville near Harrison Park. Two subjects fled on foot from the stop location and were ultimately placed in custody by Danville Police Officers and Vermilion County Sheriff’s Deputies. During the foot pursuit officers recovered two firearms.
25 year old Malik E Brown and 23 year old David Cox, both from Chicago, were transported to the Public Safety Building and held in the Vermilion County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of a stolen vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, along with other charges.
This is an ongoing investigation and no other information is being released. The Danville Police Department would like to remind everyone that defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
