The local jobs picture showed improvement from October to November for the third straight month. Vermilion County’s unemployment rate dropped from 5.7% in October to 4.8% in November. Vermilion County’s rate stood at 4.6% in November of 2022.
The City of Danville’s November unemployment rate came in at 6.0%, after being up at 7.1% in October. Danville’s rate was at 5.2% in November of 2022.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed an increase of 800 jobs overall, when comparing November of 2023 with November of 2022. Looking at more specific categories; Leisure and Hospitality jobs were up by 500, Government jobs were up by 400, and Financial Activities jobs were up by 100. Professional-Business Services and Retail jobs were both down by 100, from November of 2022 to November of 2023.
