Work on Danville High School’s Ned Whitesell Field continues into the new year. District 118 Athletic Director Mark Bacys says progress on the $5.4 million project is right on time thus far. He also mentioned that, sure, some solid winter weather is expected over the next couple of weeks. But it goes without saying that some of that was certainly expected.

The home side bleachers next to the school building have been removed. Bacys says the next big thing is the concrete base that’s needed to move to existing visitor’s bleachers a bit to the east, as originally planned. The project is scheduled to be done in time for the 2024 football season.
