This could be the year that Danville’s historical Bresee Tower comes down. County Board Chairman Larry Baughn says the County and City of Danville have been working on an intergovernmental agreement in preparations for seeking bids for the demolition…..
{AUDIO: “The City had sent over an intergovernmental agreement that they had written up. And our State’s Attorney’s Office has reviewed that and sent me some recommendations to ask the City for some changes on that. So, I’ll get with the Mayor. I’ve got those in my hands. I’ve been reviewing them since the holidays – and get with Mayor Williams and his team and see what we can do to make those changes. (It’s) nothing big, just kind of some verbiage changes.}
Baughn said earlier that it will be up to the County to pay for demolition of the Vermilion County Courthouse Annex. He said the City of Danville would be paying for the removal of Bresee Tower. Once the site is cleared both Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. and County Board chairman Baughn have said they are optimistic the site will attract future development. But there have been no announcements on what might go there.
