THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Thursday evening 1/11/24 Officers assigned to the Problem Oriented Policing Unit of the Danville Police Department arrested 44-year-old Emmit L Brown of Danville for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Firearm, and Obstructing and Resisting a Peace Officer. Brown is also currently on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections for other felony convictions and is being held at the Public Safety Building on the above charges.
Brown was driving a vehicle and stopped for a traffic violation in Danville. Through further investigation officers of the P.O.P. unit discovered Brown was in possession of a loaded handgun. The Danville Police Department Problem-Oriented Policing Unit concentrates its efforts on enforcement concerns identified by the department, community, and city leaders. Through their proactivity, the P.O.P. unit continues to enhance the quality of life and reduce the fear and incidence of crime in Danville through a partnership with the community.
The Danville Police Department informs the public that all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
