During the last weekend in January and first weekend in February, Danville’s Red Mask Players will be performing a play taking place in Paris in 1904, written by comedian Steve Martin. Director Lisa Lovelace recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program. And Lovelace says, if you are a Steve Martin fan, then Picasso at the Lapin Agile will have exactly what you would expect.
AUDIO: It has all kinds of humor in it. There is something for everyone. If you like a pun, one of those pops up once in a while. If you like just an outright joke, one of those is in there. There is some visual stuff; it’s just got everything.
Lovelace says that in writing this play, Steve Martin played the game of “what if?”
AUDIO: If Pablo Picasso, the artist, and Albert Einstein, the genius, met in a bar in Paris in 1904. This never actually happened; but from his imagination, it does happen.
Dylan Heck portrays Pablo Picasso, with Brandon Moore staring as Albert Einstein. The show will be the weekends of January 26th through 28th and February 2nd through 4th. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30, while Sunday shows are at 2 PM. Tickets are $20, $18 for seniors and students. Season memberships are always available for the respective prices of $50 and $45.
