A grant application forwarded to the full City Council by Danville’s Public Services Committee Tuesday (Jan 23rd) evening is meant to make certain parts of Downtown Danville look better, and allow alley facing stores and properties to take the lead in choosing their own artists. Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer says this all begins with the Arts in the Alley Committee.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: So the Arts in the Alley Committee is a group of community partners that are working together with the hopes of adding art projects, and lighting installations, to brighten our alleys in Downtown Danville. The community partners are all pooling our funds, and we’re going to be seeking funds from local entities in order to provide matching grants to property owners in Downtown Danville.
Greer says the city will be taking applications from interested parties this spring, and hoping to receive good news about the $50,000 grant from the National Arts Endowment over the summer so that work can begin.
