PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – February 4 – February 10, 2024
February 1 – March 31: Oscar Buzz Reading Challenge. Beanstack challenge featuring potential nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay.
February 5: Teen Movie Mondays. Every Monday we will show a movie in Teen Zone and have popcorn! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 4 – 6 PM.
February 6: Teen Tabletop Tuesdays. Stop by the Teen Zone on Tuesdays to play board/card games and eat snacks! Tuesdays from 4-6 PM in the Teen Zone.
February 6: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record. Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. Each Tuesday at 4:30 pm in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-12.
February 6: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 7: The Consult. An opportunity for your business to get advice over coffee from a consortium of business leaders, both current and retired, willing to share their knowledge. People from all over the business community are inviting you to engage them for advice in a relaxed atmosphere. No pressure, no sales pitch, just a resource for you to access, absolutely free. Starts at 8:00 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 7: Dungeons & Dragons. A tabletop role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. This program is for teens, both those who are new to the game and those who already know the best way to cleave an orc. New players are always welcome! Wednesdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
February 7: Rainbow Readers Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. Wednesdays from 10 AM- 11 AM. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 7: STEAM Team. Activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 7: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
February 8: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
February 8: Family Bilingual Storytime. Join us for stories, songs, and rhymes in Spanish and English—Thursdays from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
February 8: Tween 3D Printer Class. Get your tech on while you learn about 3D printing. Use software to create your own 3D masterpiece! For ages 8-12. 4:30 p.m.
February 10: Children’s Saturday Movie Matinee. Join us for a family-friendly movie in the Children’s Room every Saturday at noon. Children and Tweens welcome!
February 10: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently abled youth. Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture, win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Interactive Movie Experience: Play games while you watch your favorite movies! Available on a first come first served basis. Call 217-477-5225 for the list of movies and to reserve your movie packet.
StoryWalk®: Enjoy a quiet walk and read a book! This month we have Mr. Lucky Straw, rewritten by Elizabeth Lane, on our back (South) windows. (The side facing Madison St.)
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday starting at 9 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 9 am-2:30 pm. New craft each week! This week: Create your own Chinese Dragon.
