PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – February 11 – February 17, 2024
February 1 – March 31: Oscar Buzz Reading Challenge. Beanstack challenge featuring potential nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay.
February 12: Genealogy Workshop: 1-2:30 PM. 2nd Floor Conference Room. Learn how to use the Newspapers in our collection for research.
February 12: Teen Movie Mondays. Every Monday we will show a movie in Teen Zone and have popcorn! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 4 – 6 PM.
February 13: Teen Tabletop Tuesdays. Stop by the Teen Zone on Tuesdays to play board/card games and eat snacks! Tuesdays from 4-6 PM in the Teen Zone.
February 13: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. Each Tuesday at 4:30 pm in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-12.
February 13: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 14: Dungeons & Dragons. A tabletop role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. This program is for teens, both those who are new to the game and those who already know the best way to cleave an orc. New players are always welcome! Wednesdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
February 14: Rainbow Readers Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. Wednesdays from 10 AM- 11 AM. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 14: STEAM Team. Activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
February 14: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
February 15: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
February 15: Family Bilingual Storytime. Join us for stories, songs, and rhymes in Spanish and English—Thursdays from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
February 17: Read with a Therapy Dog. Reading is one of the best therapies out there, and now you can share your love of reading with our friendly therapy dogs and improve your reading skills! February 17 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM in the Children’s Room. All ages.
February 17: Goosebumps Parent/Child Book Club. Parents, share your Goosebumps nostalgia with your kids in our Parent-Child Book Club series! This month, we’re featuring Deep Trouble by R.L. Stine. We’ll have activities and games, and you’ll get a free copy of the book to take home. 1 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Children’s Art Challenge: Send us a photo of your (child’s) art and we will post it on both Facebook and our Website. Winners will be chosen at the end of the month. Submissions must be family-friendly. This month’s Challenge is “What I Love” To submit your work visit tinyurl.com/DPL-KidArt
Interactive Movie Experience: Play games while you watch your favorite movies! Available on a first come first served basis. Call 217-477-5225 for the list of movies and to reserve your movie packet.
StoryWalk®: Enjoy a quiet walk and read a book! This month we have Mr. Lucky Straw, rewritten by Elizabeth Lane, on our back (South) windows. (The side facing Madison St.)
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday starting at 9 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 9 am-2:30 pm. New craft each week! This week: Make a Valentine’s Craft.
