THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE DISTRICT 118/MARK DENMAN SCHOOL RELEASE
Fourth grade students from Mark Denman Elementary School will be presenting exhibits that will feature famous authors, athletes, musicians, politicians, scientists, etc. The students have been working on gathering research on each famous person and they will be presenting their findings to
the community. The annual exhibit is called, Gallery of Heroes, an exhibit of African Americans who shaped history.
The purpose of the gallery is to celebrate Black History Month by having fourth grade students research information, use AVID strategies to create a one-page paper, and create a timeline about the life of the hero that they chose to research. Attendees will be able to engage in conversations with students about their famous authors.
The gallery will provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their public speaking and extensive knowledge of their famous hero. Additionally, they will be able to celebrate their hard work with their parents, teachers, and peers. The Gallery of Heroes will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Mark Denman Elementary School Gym.
