Hockey executive Barry Soskin, who’s been working on bringing back the Danville Dashers for the 2024-25 season, told Neuhoff Media Friday afternoon that despite the good news from Wednesday night’s David Palmer Arena Board meeting, he had not yet received anything in writing; as the process is likely passing through both the Arena Board’s attorneys and his attorneys.
Soskin says, if it were up to him, this would have all been completely finalized back when news of the potential agreement came in November. But then again, since the last time the Dashers existed, and during the time of the Vermilion County Bobcats era; Soskin acknowledges that some things at the Palmer Arena, personnel wise and procedure wise, did change. So in trying to get all this done, there has been a lot to talk about, especially concerning the lease.
AUDIO: In the time when I was there for ten years, to the time that I was gone; the building changed how they write their leases. So some of the things that were included before weren’t now, and visa-versa.
Palmer Arena General Manager Teri Gaffney says yes indeed, the agreement’s working its way through attorneys. As she told Neuhoff Media after the February 28th board meeting, “We are anxious.” And as Barry Soskin told Neuhoff Media Friday afternoon, “We’re trying.”
