Both the City of Danville Mayor’s Office and Vermilion Advantage say they have no information about the fact that Affirmative Care Solutions has put up a sign at the old Dillman Eye Care building at 600 North Logan.
It was last spring that it became known that Affirmative Care Solutions, a women’s health care clinic that offers abortions, was planning to move from Indianapolis into the old Dillman Eye Care building.
In early May, the Danville City Council ended up voting on a proposed city ordinance that was designed to prevent abortions within the Danville city limits by not allowing any materials used in performing abortions to be received through the mail. In front of an emotionally charged and over-packed City Council Chambers, the vote went 8 to 7 in favor of the ordinance, with Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. breaking the tie by voting “yes.”
However, right before the final vote, an amendment was added to the ordinance, stating that it would not become affective until it had received an affirmative ruling from a higher court. This caused one of the council members to comment that that meant Affirmative Care Solutions could still set up operations for now, and that point was not disputed.
In the months following the vote, there was little sign of any new business moving into the old Dillman location. However, there was the attempt later in May by 73-year-old Philip J. Buyno to set the building on fire by bringing several containers filled with gasoline, and using his car to breach the front entrance of the building. Buyno later pleaded guilty to attempted arson.
But with the new sign now in place, googling Affirmative Care Solutions will now take you to their site; with a picture of the old Dillman Eye Care building, along with address and phone number.
Neuhoff Media was able to leave a message with Affirmative Care Solutions, but was not told of any firm opening date.
