Danville Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk says that the phrase “Madison Neighborhood Revitalization Project” was coined by the city while Carle at the Riverfront was under construction. The idea was to specifically identify area mostly north of the new medical complex and Madison Street that needed some specific assistance for the future.
Cronk defines the borders of the targeted area.

As Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s recent release had stated, $850,000 has been allocated for this project in Danville. Cronk says the city has no idea, pending the president’s signature, when the first check would arrive. But they do know, pretty much, what they’d be using it for.

Also infrastructure improvements; from sanitary drainage; street and sidewalk improvement. We believe we can use those funds for that. That’s what we wrote for. But right now, our main focus is really cleaning up the housing stock. It’s some of the poorest in the City of Danville.
Cronk says one definite positive in receiving this is it could free other areas up for Danville’s $1.4 million in home repair grant funding from the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
