The Vermilion County Board has begun the search for a new county recorder. Current Recorder, Dave Stone, is retiring before finishing his current term. The County Board declared a vacancy in the Recorder’s position – effective March 22nd. Board Chairman Larry Baughn said letters will be sent to both the Democrat and Republican Parties notifying them about the upcoming vacancy.
There are two people currently running for County Recorder. They are Republicans Matt Long and Cathy Moulton who are both on next week’s primary election ballot. No Democrats have announced intensions of seeking the office.
Long has been Vermilion County’s Supervisor of Assessments since 2010. Moulton has worked in the Recorder’s office as a deputy recorder for the past fifteen years.
In their meeting this evening (Tuesday, March 12, 2024) the County Board also approved a resolution clearing the way for improvements to Hungry Hollow Road. The work includes a new asphalt overlay that is planned.
