Former DACC student Mary Catherine Roberson shared some stories from her student and working life during a Wednesday (March 13th) Women’s History Month event at the Danville Area Community College Student Union.
Prior to speaking, Roberson told Neuhoff Media that she planned to speak about perseverance as a woman; and how Danville led her to other opportunities, and then back to Danville.
AUDIO: When I started in Danville, around gun violence, I was a community organizer. But that ultimately led to a position for the City of Champaign, where we wrote and implemented the Community Gun Violence Reduction Blueprint. So also, just pushing the message that, when you want to make a difference, and you’re really looking for ways to impact your community, that there are always ways that you can. It just means a lot to be able to go from wanting to do things from the outside, to actually working for the government and seeing a those policies come to fruition.
Roberson currently works for Congresswoman Robin Kelly.
