THE FOLLOWING IS A VA ILLIANA HEALTH CARE RELEASE
DANVILLE, Ill. – Student Veterans at Illinois State University will have a chance to apply for VA health care on-the-spot at an enrollment event set for March 25, 2024, at Moulton Hall, presented as a partnership between VA Illiana Health Care System and ISU’s Veterans and Military Services Office.
The event, which will feature a pizza lunch for student Veterans, is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The approximately 450 student Veterans at Illinois State will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with VA enrollment experts and apply for the top-quality physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual care VA provides to those who served. With millions of Veterans becoming immediately eligible for VA care thanks to the recent implementation of Section 103 of the PACT Act, it has never been easier for Veterans to enroll in the care they deserve.
“Our message to ISU Student Veterans—and all Veterans—is that now is the time to enroll in VA care,” said Dori Camacho Torres, VA Illiana’s Public Affairs Officer and a U.S. Army Veteran. “Even if you don’t need care today, enrollment in VA care is for life. I enrolled in care right after serving, and VA helped me maintain the wellness needed to thrive as a recent graduate entering the workforce. We’re proud to provide top-quality care for the Veterans of central Illinois and stand ready to connect Veterans with care that is worthy of their service and uniquely tailored to their needs.”
Veterans who plan to attend should bring their DD-214 to the event. If Veterans are unable to attend the event, VA Illiana encourages them to reach out to VA Illiana’s Enrollment and Eligibility office via phone at (217) 554-5209, Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.
All who attend the event will also have the chance to sign a card to be delivered to a Medal of Honor recipient residing in VA Illiana’s service area in recognition of National Medal of Honor Day.
