THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – Danville Area Community College is thrilled to announce the addition of two new associate degree programs: Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Echocardiography. These cutting-edge programs, currently offered as advanced certificates, are set to commence as Associate degrees in the summer 2024 semester, starting on June 10. These two programs complement our existing Radiologic Technology AAS degree, offering students more options in the fascinating world of medical imaging.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program focuses on abdominal and obstetric and gynecology ultrasound. Students will learn how to create diagnostic images of organs and soft tissues of the required anatomy. These images help doctors diagnose and treat various medical conditions. Students are prepared in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for diagnostic medical sonography. Students will be prepared to enter the workforce as competent, entry level sonographers upon completion of this program.
The Echocardiography program focuses on the adult heart. Students will learn to use ultrasound technology to view the heart’s structure, and provide diagnostic images, allowing doctors to identify any issues and decide on the best treatment.
These programs are the gateway to a career in the healthcare field, one of the fastest-growing industries. With these degrees, students can look forward to exciting and fulfilling careers, working alongside doctors and patients, and using technology to make a real difference in people’s lives. This is a chance to embark on a rewarding career path, filled with opportunities to help others and make a positive impact in the healthcare world.
These are competitive admission programs for which prerequisites must be met prior to application. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of these groundbreaking programs at DACC.
