Danville Police have confirmed with Neuhoff Media that they received a significant number of “shots fired” calls over the weekend. No victims have been reported.
Danville Police are asking the public to call 911 if shots are heard. The Danville Police Department needs as much specific information as can be provided during these calls; such as the number of shots, the best location that can be provided, any vehicles that were scene leaving the scene, if any subjects were viewed or observed running away from a specific location where shots were heard.
If callers are willing, they are asked to leave their names, numbers, and addresses so officers can speak with them. DPD needs the public to be the best witnesses and eyes and ears as can safely and reasonably be done.
As always, if you see something or hear something, please say something. Danville Police value the cooperation and partnership of our community.
Anyone with information on weekend shots fired incidents can call 217-431-2250.
The public can also contact the Vermilion County Crimestoppers tip hotline anonymously by calling 217-446-TIPS (8477).
