Due to a slight leak found while the new pool at the Danville Aquatics Center was being filled, the scheduled inspection by the Illinois Department of Public Health has been pushed back one week, which will likely push the Aquatic Center’s opening back about a week into early June. Director of Public Works David Ruwe says during construction of a major project, bumps in the road can occur.

During Tuesday (May 7th) night’s meeting, the City Council approved the proposed fees for the first year of the Aquatics Center. ($8 daily passes for age four and older, three and under free; 10 visit punch passes for $70.)
Carpeting renovation will now be done in the Public Works Department portion of the Public Works Building, as HVAC work continues to be completed.
In other Public Works related news, a $39,000 contract has been approved for carpeting renovation at the Public Works Building. Ruwe says much of the staff has already been temporarily moved into part of the old Ameren section of the building while HVAC work is being done. So while they are still in the temporary location, the carpeting will be taken care of as well.
