DANVILLE — It was about 62 years ago that B & J Music opened in Danville, serving school bands and local musicians alike.
Now, at the end of this month, the city’s longest-standing music store will close its doors for good — though it doesn’t plan on leaving its customers in the lurch.
In a merger of retail and road operations, The Music Shoppe Inc. — based in Normal, with stores in Champaign and Springfield — will be taking over
B & J’s outstanding obligations, including school routes, with the transition occurring during these next few weeks, and rental accounts.
