Nicholas Galitzine Feels Guilty Playing Gay Roles As A Straight Man

Nicholas Galitzine, best known for his role in The Idea Of You, feels some guilt about his portrayal of a British Prince in a relationship with the son of the U.S. President and worries about taking up LGBTQ+ representation. “I identify as a straight man, but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories,” the actor told British GQ. “I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt. At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.” He emphasizes that he is more than his roles and wants to be taken seriously as a performer. “I think the most important thing to me is that I’m taken seriously as a performer,” Galitzine said.
