Fresh off their successful cheer and basketball camp at the David S. Palmer Arena this past Saturday, Pastor LeStan Hoskins and his It Takes a Village Mentorship team will be hosting a Safe Summer Stroll down North Vermilion Street, this coming Saturday morning May 18th. It will start at 10 AM at the CVS at Fairchild and North Vermilion.
The Safe Summer Stroll will be led by Police Chief Christopher Yates. And Pastor Hoskins says the finishing point will be the Joseph G. Cannon Vermilion County Administration Building. Once participants arrive there, there will be some information about making this upcoming summer a safe one.
AUDIO: We’re going to let Chief Yates say some words to our community and to our youth, then we’re going to have some pastors say some things. And then we’re going to highlight some of the programs in our community. So I’m just asking people to come out, to be involved, and to encourage our youth. We know that over the summer when school ends; sometimes, when they’re not occupied, they may not make good decisions. So we want to encourage them to make good decisions, and then we want to build relationships with them.
If it’s an excessively warm day, CVS is scheduled for provide bottled water for those on the Safe Summer Stroll. The entire program should go from about 10 to 11 AM.
