It began over decade ago and took a rest due to the pandemic, but the District 118 First Grade Math Challenge was in full swing Wednesday (May 15th) morning in the Danville High School Gymnasium. Angela Wilson from the District 118 Math Curriculum Department said it was great to have some guest schools competing, and they’re looking to have more in the future.

AUDIO: Instructor Rena Pate from the district got it going, and got it started for us 11 years ago. And we are just growing leaps and bounds. This year we included Bismarck and Salt Fork, and have 22 teams. (Are you expanding to more next year?) We are sure hopeful, yes. We are going to invite even more, and we are going to continue to grow this awesome opportunity for first graders.
