THE FOLLOWING IS A LAKEVIEW COLLEGE OF NURSING RELEASE
DANVILLE, IL (05/17/2024) Thirteen new members were recently inducted into Lakeview College of Nursing’s (LCN) Sigma Theta Tau – Alpha Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter during a spring ceremony.
New members of the honor society included one LCN faculty member, Pamela Armstrong of Cissna Park, IL, and the following LCN students:

Whisper Brown of Bismarck, IL
Jayda Davis of Urbana, IL
Kaitlyn Goodrum of Hoopeston, IL
Kadmiel Gwasira of Turlock, CA
Paige Hennessy of Gibson City, IL
Vanessa Jackson of Chicago, IL
Presley King of West Terre Haute, IN
Kaitlyn Lewenstein of Danville, IL
Karlie Roberts of Sidney, IL
Jessica Warren of Ashmore, IL
Shoshana Zimmerman of Champaign, IL
In order to receive an invitation to join Sigma, the students must have completed at least half of the nursing curriculum, achieve academic excellence with a grade point average at or above 3.0, rank in the highest 35 percent of the graduating class, and meet the expectation of academic integrity.
The keynote speaker for the event was Rita Wallace, MSN Ed, RN. Wallace has over 30 years of experience as a registered nurse. She has worked in surgical urology, oncology, gynecological surgery, medical-surgical nursing, medical-surgical intensive care, open-heart recovery, and emergency medicine. Additionally, she has been a faculty member at LCN since 2007. Wallace spoke about how each new member being inducted not only meets the criteria for induction but also upholds the values of the college: adaptability, caring, excellence, integrity, and service.
Wallace also highlighted the traits of love, honor & courage. She presented coins of appreciation to three students for their demonstration of one of those traits as voted on by the leadership of the Alpha Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma. The recipients are as follows:
- Jayda Davis received the token for love
- Jessica Warren received the token for honor
- Kadmiel Gwasira received the token for courage
Sigma is recognized worldwide for being a leader in nursing excellence and for providing tremendous opportunities for networking and professional development, according to the organization’s website, https://www.sigmanursing.org
“We are hoping more and more students will take advantage of all that Sigma has to offer. It is quite an honor for students to receive an invitation to join this organization,” said Wallace.
The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) is the second-largest nursing organization in the world, with approximately 135,000 active members.
