Members of the Vermilion County Board have voted unanimously to help the David S. Palmer Arena with improvements to its HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system. The Board is giving $100-thousand dollars to the Arena. The funds come from interest earned on investing federal ARPA funds the county received to help recover from the pandemic.
Also, during their meeting this week, County Board members were told Corporate Replacement Tax revenues are down…
{AUDIO: “The Corporate Replacement Tax revenues that we’re receiving are significantly less than in previous years. And we had been told that’s something we should expect several months ago, and in fact, it’s materializing. So that’ll have some consequences. It’s roughly a $900,000 impact to the General Fund Budget.”
That was Finance Committee chairman Steve Miller delivering the message to the county board. Miller added this is only the sixth month of the fiscal year, so it’s something that needs to be monitored.
And Tara Auter was sworn-in Tuesday as a new County Board member representing District 5.
