Kids of all ages are enjoying this year’s Arts in the Park at Lincoln Park in Danville. Dozens of classic cars turned out Saturday for the Art on Wheels portion of the event. Bill Pickett has more…

Another popular spot was the Children’s Art Tent where Ashley McMillan described what was happening…
{AUDIO: “We have a full variety of children’s activities – children of all ages. We have sand art which is very popular. We have a new activity where they can build sun-catchers. We have coloring stations. The beads are really popular. And it’s kind of like playdough modeling clay where they can sculpt stuff and use their imagination.”}

McMillan serves as secretary for the Arts in the Park Board. The Danville Noon Kiwanis sponsored the Children’s Art Tent, and Danville Public Library was also hosting activities there.
McMillan has helped oversee the Children’s Art Tent the past four years…..
{AUDIO: “It’s challenging but I like to see kids express themselves. I like to see smiles on their faces. And if they don’t have time to do every activity we have to-go goodie bags where they can take some of it home with them to do it too.}
McMillan (shown here) noted there was a good turnout Saturday despite the hot weather, and she was hopeful there would be a big crowd Sunday, too…
{AUDIO: “It is a great event. The car show is fantastic. We have an excellent turnout for that, and I love seeing the crowds that come every year. Each year we try to get more artists, but after Covid it was shut down, so we had to build that up again – and we’re still working on that. And the stage entertainment – it just keeps growing also.”}
Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, hours for Arts in the Park are 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The event puts a spotlight on the various arts around this area by offering free entertainment on the stage. And artists who participate travel here from several states.
