It is once again Vermilion County Fair time. The fairgrounds, just west of the I-74 interchange on U.S. 150, will be jumping with activity from this Wednesday the 26th, through next Sunday the 30th.
Ashley Drake and Nikki Duffy recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection. One thing they mentioned was that this year a $10 admission gets you into everything, including the grandstand events; with one exception. There will be an extra fee for Saturday’s demolition derby. But all the other grandstand events, including Wednesday’s queen contest, are part of the $10 admission fee.
It was also mentioned that there’s something new show wise this year, and something that debuted last year is back!
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We have an improv show this year. Which is like totally new, and out of left field for us. So that’s super exciting. That’s on Friday night. We have the RC (remote control) car races back this year. Those are so much fun to watch. I am not an RC car person, I had never seen it. And I watched it for the first time last year and thought, “This is really cool!”
The fair will be open all day with animal shows going on starting Wednesday; but if you’re wondering about the carnival, it starts at 5 PM Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday; runs all day Saturday, and starts at Noon on Sunday. But please remember it will shut down on Saturday between 5 and 6 PM for a dinner break.

By the way, the talent show is being replaced by karaoke, scheduled for Saturday.
