Michigan native and University of Minnesota Law School graduate Nicolas Boileau has been sworn in as Vermilion County’s new judge in the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Illinois.
While speaking during Wednesday (July 3rd) morning’s investiture ceremony at the Vermilion County Courthouse, Judge Boileau expressed gratitude to his parents in attendance, David and Maria Boileau; as well as those he has worked with along the way. He stated afterwards he had so many people lead him to becoming a judge; including during his college days at Ohio State, Western Michigan, and law school at Minnesota.

Audio PlayerAUDIO: I mean I’m not here because of my own individual effort. I’m here because of the good graces of other people who helped me along the way. I was born in Escanaba, Michigan. And then my family and I, we lived there until the 8th grade, and then we moved to Marquette, Michigan; that’s where I graduated high school from. Then I went on to undergrad at Ohio State University, and then to Western (Michigan), and then on to law school at Minnesota. Meanwhile, my parents moved back to Escanaba, Michigan; and that was their birth home as well.
Numerous members of the judiciary were present, including retired Illinois Supreme Court Justice, the Hon. Rita Garman. She said after the investiture that moments like this are always special.
