THE FOLLOWING RELEASE IS FROM CONGRESSWOMAN MARY MILLER’S OFFICE
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Congresswoman Mary Miller’s (R-IL) legislation to protect girls’ sports by blocking the Biden administration’s Title IX rule, which allows men to enter women and girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms. Representative Miller released the following statement:
“Today is a great day for our daughters and granddaughters, who deserve protection from Joe Biden’s radical attempt to force men into their private spaces and athletics. Title IX guarantees equal opportunities for girls in education and sports, but Joe Biden is putting our girls at risk by erasing their Title IX protections and claiming biological men should have access to girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms. Parents are horrified that Joe Biden is ignoring parental rights and forcing his leftwing agenda into our local schools.
“I’m proud to have my bill, which blocks Joe Biden’s Title IX rewrite, pass the House, and I urge the Senate to vote on this legislation quickly to protect our daughters from Biden’s dangerous agenda.”
Miller’s bill, H.J. Res 165, is a Congressional Review Act resolution that provides congressional disapproval for the Biden Department of Education’s new Title IX rule. Miller’s bill was co-sponsored by 72 House Republicans and passed the House by a vote of 210 to 205. The legislation now goes to the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats. The Senate version of the bill, S.J. Res. 96, is being sponsored by Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) with 34 Senate co-sponsors.
