Students from all over Vermilion County were welcomed Thursday afternoon (August 1st) for the BACK TO SCHOOL BASH at the Vermilion County Health Department. Co-hosting the event was OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, and their Care-A-Van was parked outside ready to provide school physicals.
Inside the Health Department, as students lined up for immunizations, eye tests, and more; OSF Registered Nurse Cassie Goodwin said that if you could not make this opportunity for school physicals from the OSF Care-A-Van; keep your eyes on the OSF Care-A-Van website: https://www.facebook.com/osfsacredheart.
AUDIO: We do have another couple of events planned at the beginning of September; for those that couldn’t make it today, or can’t get into their normal doctor’s office. But we hope to keep expanding, and keep doing more and more of these to help the community. We have two exam rooms, two doctors, two nurses; we’re ready to go.
One of the many organizations on hand in the very busy health department hallway was the Illinois Soybean Association. They were providing all kinds of soy product items for entire families; such as prenatal vitamins, nutrition bars, diaper rash cream and diapers and more. As the ISA’s Kaytlin Gilbert explained, helping the whole family means helping their students get ready for the school year.

AUDIO: It’s really representative of what soy is all about, which is, 96% of farms in Illinois are family owned and family run. So we’re to represents families, soybean farmers, and the families that use our products. And that starts with the babies.
Thursdays Back to School Bash at the Vermilion County Health Department ran from 2 to 6 PM.
