PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – August 11 – August 17, 2024
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
August 12: Teen Movie Mondays. Join us on the 2nd Monday of every month for a movie and popcorn in Teen Zone! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 4 – 7 PM.
August 12: Genealogy Workshop: Genealogy: Family History Research Checklist. We will review a 12 Step Process for Researching Your Family History: A Checklist. 1-2:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
August 13: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Board Game Night. Play your favorite game with your friends. 4:30 pm in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-12.
August 13: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
August 14: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. Wednesdays 10 am- 11 am. Children’s Room.
August 14: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
August 14: Team STEAM. Join us for activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
August 15: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
August 15: Family Bilingual Storytime. Come join us for stories, songs, and rhymes in Spanish and English. 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
August 17: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the Children’s Department.
August 17: Goosebumps Parent/Child Book Club. Parents, share your Goosebumps nostalgia with your kids in our Parent-Child Book Club series! This month, we’re featuring Go Eat Worms by R.L. Stine. We’ll have activities and games, and you’ll get a free copy of the book to take home. 1 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
