August 7: The Consult. An opportunity for your business to get advice over coffee from a consortium of business leaders; both current and retired, willing to share their knowledge. People from all over the business community are inviting you to engage them for advice in a relaxed atmosphere. No pressure, no sales pitch, just a resource for you to access, absolutely free. Starts at 8:00 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
August 7: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. Wednesdays 10 am- 11 am. Children’s Room.
August 7: Dungeons & Dragons. A tabletop role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. This program is for teens, both those new to the game and those who already know the best way to cleave an orc. New players are always welcome! Wednesdays at 4 pm in the Teen Zone.
August 7: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
August 7: University of Illinois Extension Jr. Chef Program. This class meets 10 times during August and September. Learn to read recipes, and measure and mix ingredients. Receive a workbook at the last meeting including recipes made during the program. Register for the program in the Children’s Department. 4:45 – 5:45 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
August 8: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
August 8: Tween 3D Pen Class. Get your tech on while you learn about 3D Pens. Use software to create your own 3D masterpiece! For ages 8-12. 4:30 p.m.
August 8: A Novel Idea at 7:30 p.m. at the Kathryn Randolph Theatre. This month the Danville Library Foundation is sponsoring a performance of Misery. Tickets are $20 Adult, $18 Senior, $10 Student (18 y/o & under) but you can go for FREE by visiting the Danville Public Library – visit today!
August 9: Tiny Canvas Club. Unleash your child’s inner artist at Tiny Canvas Club: The Junior Bob Ross Edition. We have invited our resident Bob Ross to visit the students while they paint. There is nothing but happy trees on the horizon. Ages 6 and up. 11:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm in the Children’s Programming Room (Former Bookstore).
August 10: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the Children’s Programming Room.
